Root Zone Database
Last summer I attended the International Studies School Network’s annual conference in DC. One of the keynote speakers was Alan November, a leader in education technology. His speech primarily focused on how we use the internet to gather information and how we often under utilize many of it’s functions and capabilities. Case in point, the root zone database. This database is comprised of different codes (.uk = United Kingdom, .edu = education, etc.) Then, he showed us how to use this phenomenal tool, which in all my years of using the internet I had NEVER heard of. These codes can help internet users filter material and broaden searches to include very specific information. Trouble is… I can’t quite remember how to use the database to its fullest potential and cannot find a tutorial anywhere! I think this is an incredible tool for ALL educators. Can anyone help?
